Take this for what you will, but my hot tub guy told me it's happening. He knows biggies in the National Guard that have confirmed it.

Should have been done a couple of weeks ago. As Fauci is fond of saying, where ever you think you're at currently, you're still weeks behind.

I suspect that's where honeyman's "hot tub guy" either directly or indirectly picked up the rumor.Funny. You guys are saying the same things they are talking about on infowars. Just sayin'...
Turkeytop, it sure would suck if a decision were made to completely close the border between U.S. and Canada after you've already driven, say, 700 or 800 miles.
Right now, Canadian citizens are permitted to return from the U.S to Canada.

IMHO there needs to be travel restrictions to Washington State, California, New York, new Jersey and Illinois based on their shelter in place orders. We all need to use common sense by traveling no more than is necessary and no road trips unless it is an emergency. TurkeyTop and his wife are lucky that they have their vacation place to stay in if they can't get home but if I were in their shoes I would feel better riding this out in my main residence and as Metalhead said the border would be open to them to return home.

Most of the snow birds left early with the warmer than usual weather.
Florida is probably safer, with the warm weather which has been to shown to be plus.
Oh, the latest research is that paper is better than plastic by about 3 days.

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

And now we see why you shouldn't always trust your hot tub guy.
Re: Complete national shutdown/quarantine starting Monday
I still think it's going to come at some point. Otherwise it'll spread inland... the problem is we are so big and have so many individual jurisdictions that those who fall behind in closing things leave their people in the sights of the virus.
Re: Complete national shutdown/quarantine starting Monday
Is it impractical to just pass an executive order banning all but essential travel between state lines?
Re: Complete national shutdown/quarantine starting Monday
Well on interstates and U.S. roads and state highways it'd be easy. Could you post somebody at every little street that crosses a border?
Re: Complete national shutdown/quarantine starting Monday
Seems logistically easier to enforce than a full-blown nationwide lockdown.
Re: Complete national shutdown/quarantine starting Monday
If we went a nationwide lockdown we would have to enforce it with the guard and the army probably. That’s what it had to come down to in Italy... I don’t see why this would be much different.
Re: Complete national shutdown/quarantine starting Monday
How many roads cross state lines? Seems like the guard could be deployed to enforce these pretty easily.
Re: Complete national shutdown/quarantine starting Monday
I don't think the federal government can forbid intrastate travel, only interstate travel. The state government would have to do that.

Just between Michigan and Indiana... 150-200. You even have city and neighborhood streets that do.
Re: Complete national shutdown/quarantine starting Monday
In the comedy that is a Trump press conference, there are the usual lies about how everything will be normal in a few weeks. There was no reference to any shutdown.
