If local folks can't find it important enough to vote in folks they think are representative to their local area then shame on them and they get what they deserve.
So the children get what they deserve, in your view?
I was going to ask the same thing... that’s a hard sell...
The PARENTS and constituents in that city get what they deserve. It's not the federal government's job to tend to your kids or raise your kids, nor should it be some bureaucrats idea 1000's of miles away that dictates how your kid should be treated in schools. If you want to delegate it to the state, I'd be more interested in listening, as they are most likely paying the bulk of the school costs.
But because it’s a public school they already have delegated that by sending their children there. “I’m sending my kid to you for the day and trusting you with them, please return them in one piece”...

The Feds are involved there to establish national standards is all... The rest of the world can deal with the efficiencies created by national standards and we like to have 50 different standards and I really don’t get it at this point... are we not united enough or a nation enough to have one standard for things?

I didn't ask about the parents or the constituents. I asked specifically about the children. When local politicians vote to feed the local kiddies garbage, are the kids getting what they deserve?

Why is public education in the food business?
Because the kids have to eat....
They also need to be clothed and sheltered. Why isn’t public education providing that too?
Charity Programs do exist that allow kids to shop with someone for a coat for example. But if they don’t eat it will reduce their ability to concentrate and learn... that’s a negative if you are in the school business so they have a direct incentive to get them lunch... and sometimes breakfast lest their efforts to teach the kiddos not work at all...

Yes. What about providing them with a smartphone too?? And maybe we should get away from those nasty dastardsly buses and send personal drivers for each one of them?? Where does it stop?

Why is is the government's responsibility to raise kids??

This is the second time you've dodged my question. You'd rather stonewall with largely irrelevant slippery slopes. This is NOT about the federal government providing free stuff for kids. It is about nothing more than the federal government setting standards for what is allowed to be provided to children while they're in the custody of a government entity.

You are the one advocating for purely local control, after which you said, and I quote, "If local folks can't find it important enough to vote in folks they think are representative to their local area then shame on them and they get what they deserve."

Based on that stance, my question stands: When local politicians vote to feed children garbage, are the children getting "what they deserve?"

I suppose you're probably ok with asbestos in the classroom ceilings, or teachers smoking in the hallways. As long as the local school board approves it.

But nobody is proposing or will propose those things... where does it stop is the old slippery slope argument but that makes little sense here...

It’s not the government’s job to raise kids.

Did the government impregnate the women who gave birth? NOPE!

Raise your own kids, pay for your own kids, and leave me out of it.
What an ass

IDK, it sounds likes personal responsibility.

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

Yes! What a concept! “Have your own kids and be personally responsible for them!” WOW! How is that even possible?!

Government American schools started in the 1800’s. What do you think happened before that? Hmmmmm. Parents taught their own kids!!!! Imagine that!!!!!!
I give up. Talking to you isn’t worth it. I could say something about how your pie in the sky ideas don’t fit reality and wax philosophic about how you lack any empathy at all whatsoever (which speaks to a lack of real world experience) but why bother?

If the local school board votes to feed them "crap" then yes, they get what they deserved. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's reality. Getting fed "crap" is probably magnitudes better than starving, which is probably their other choice if they really are living in a community that won't even be active enough in their community to elect a board that is representative of their desires.

Your ignorance, whether vocalized or not, keeps me undeterred (look it up).
So if I ignore you it’ll weaken you? Good idea.

Undeterred doesn’t mean “Having no bearing”. Not at all. It means “persevering despite setbacks”.

“LL101 is undeterred despite rate this dealing blows to its points at every turn”...
