Ah! A new Max jet software problem - as of June 27 breaking news. Another glitch - with the result - an automatic nose down position in flight.
Blow up all those new “basic design-flawed” planes, Boeing. Take your losses.
Better you than passengers having to loose their lives!

The really troubling part is reports indicate the problem might be at the microprocessor level. That's an entirely different kettle of fish to tweek the code around if the silicon is funky.screen glare wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 12:56 pmAh! Sorry, no drive by wire only.
Would you drive car that had no mechanical connection, but instead only had µP controlled brakes and steering?
I would pass on that too.

What vehicle isn't drive by wire now?audiophile wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 7:18 amSorry, no drive by wire only.

A substantial majority of the commercial carrier planes are fly by wire.

Brakes and steering still have mechanical connection that can still be overridden, albeit with some force.
My "new" car has 6-speed manual transmission. I guess if you consider the shifter cable is wire then it is drive by wire too

I find it interesting that VW is promoting their new Jetta as being available in a stick. There can't be many vehicles left.audiophile wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 8:45 amBrakes and steering still have a mechanical connection that can still be overridden, albeit with some force.

The force level to override apparently almost super human which most pilots do not possess. Sully testified they also run out of time.
Bottom line: smart passengers will take control of their lives and refuse to fly on a 737 MAX. They won’t trust Boeing, the FAA, or Mitch McConnell's wife who heads Trump’s Department of Transportation.
Only Boeing management, their families, Trump and his kids plus HIS entire transportation dept. should be flying on the MAX.
Along with you and your kids - if you believe it’s OK to basically design a plane incorrectly - trying to save money - and get it to market faster.
Money over human lives? Sorry Boeing. Your shocking lack of ethics may end up crashing your criminal company. Buh-bye.

Ha, think Mitch's wife should be on the test flight next month.

The force level was only "almost super human" because the pilots left the throttles on take-off power and let the plane exceed it's max speed rating. Had they pulled the throttles back when they were supposed to, they could have easily manually controlled the trim. Every single instance of them trimming up, even just a little, would have also bought them more time to ultimately solve the problem.screen glare wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 10:26 amThe force level to override apparently almost super human which most pilots do not possess. Sully didn't 'crash' when presented with the same situation, but he did have a heads-up. that it was a simulation of a crash, so he did have an advantage. So did those pilots on Ethiopian Air, had they been following any of the industry discussions in the 4 months prior to their crash. Also, Sully said "I could see how THOSE GUYS could have run out of time."

Re: 737 Max Jets. Take a seat?
Bottom line:
The plane is a BASIC DESIGN FLAW disaster, km1125.
Blame the dead pilots for not being as smart, prepared, or coordinated as you.
It’s still a plane that needed a redesigned 737 airframe to accommodate the new dimensions of its new engines. That did not happen due to financial concerns over safety. And now the concept of various “fixes” to compensate for Boeing’s gigantic gamble with human lives - requires the company to expire. Just like all those innocent passengers and crews.
Let’s hope the flying public associates Boeing with BS, has lost all trust in The Tombstone Agency, and refuses to take a seat.

Re: 737 Max Jets. Take a seat?
That's just not true. That would mean that it can't be flown and that folks have difficulty flying it. Factually, that's inaccurate as there have been tens of thousands of flights. If there really was a "basic design flaw", we'd see all kinds of pilots refuse to fly them. They didn't, even after the first crash of LION Air and more importantly the second crash.screen glare wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 5:25 amBottom line:

Pilots would be the first to complain if the plane had problems with control, and would be VERY vocal about it. They would have used both those crashes as justification of their earlier complaints. They are as interested as ANYBODY to be flying a safe plane and are as invested as ANYBODY in seeking improvements to any issues that are discovered.
Boeing did exactly what Airbus did... took their most popular, safe, and efficient plane and make it more efficient and capable with new updates. Airbus did not scrap their 319/320 design and start clean-sheet, nor should Boeing have done so.

Re: 737 Max Jets. Take a seat?
I think the A319/A320 has more ground clearance so the engines are located so thrust provides a more balanced performance.
This was the reason Boeing put in a software fix (apparently that has bugs) to deal with the thrust offset.

Basic design flaw, Baby!
And the pilots HAVE been complaining. Where have you been?
