So, how did this country successfully use checks for the past 100 years?
It didn't tbh. People stopped using them 30 years ago.
The last person who I knew that used paper checks was this farmer guy I helped out doing bookkeeping work for a few years ago. He got ripped off by his last few people doing his books because he was a drunk moron who thought hiring from his church would mean he wouldn't get ripped off because no one who goes to church is a thief

, so he thought it would be a good idea to ask his bank if they knew anyone with experience, and I'm friends with a teller there, so she asked me to give him a call. I decided to help him out because he only needed help 1-2 times a week for a few hours. Very eye-opening experience. This guy was constantly drunk, as was his buddy/lackey. His wife didn't trust me, I gathered it was because I was from the suburbs. She would ask me "gotcha" questions and try to catch me in lies, when all I was trying to do was help her and her loser husband. This guy was amazing himself. He would treat
certain people working for him differently as well. For example, he would act like a country club and even pay these white guys early. But when I started helping him, because he had gotten ripped off, he was holding back paying
others.
Long story short, the experience taught me that some people, particularly those from rural areas, long for the "good old days" because people "knew their race and knew their place". I also went into it not knowing much about the business model for farming and how corporations are taking over farming in the US. At first, I thought it was a horrible thing, but after getting to know this shithead, its probably for the best.
