After reading the entire article posted in this thread, I can see why; it reads like a propaganda piece.

To date, there are 464 deaths in kids age 0-17 (per the CDC) since the pandemic began. That is out of 672,000 total deaths attributable to Covid in all age groups.

The total US population is roughly 340 million people, 72 million of which are age 17 and under, or about 21% of the total population.

As a percentage, 0.07% of total Covid deaths fall in that age group, while 99.93% fall in adults 18+

Do you know what that factor ends up being? 21 divided by 0.07 is exactly 300.

Adults, as a group, are exactly 300x more likely to die from Covid than are children. Moreover, those 464 deaths account for less than 1 percent of the 56,781 total deaths in that age group.

My conclusion? Quarantining children because of exposure to Covid is pure insanity and as a policy is not supported by the data.

Now you may scream BUT, BUT, WHAT ABOUT HOSPITALIZATIONS? Glad you asked.

The hospitalization rate during the 2018-2019 flu season (8 months, though the large majority within 13 weeks) was 128 per 100k in age 0-4 and 39 per 100k in age 5-17. This adds up to 24,704 and 20,658 hospitalizations respectively, or a little over 45,000 total. Covid, on the other hand, has resulted in 2360 hospitalizations of children since the beginning of 2021.

Summary? Children are 19x more likely to end up in the hospital for the flu than they are for Covid. Yeah, even I didn't see that one coming. But data is data.
