Self-driving cars
Self-driving cars
What are your thoughts on self-driving cars?
Personally, I don't like the idea, one bit. I don't think I could ever put my life into the hands of a computer.
The auto industry seems to be moving full speed ahead on this.

Re: Self-driving cars
If it's used like cruise control with driver still at controls it probably would be ok.
Personally I wouldn't want some 'coder controlling my steering.

Re: Self-driving cars
I own several cars from the 1960's. I don't expect I'll be going driverless. My wife would buy one tomorrow. Then I could send out for Pizza and Beer when the mary jane kicks in without worry.
For Kristian Trumpers are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

It will be only a matter of time before many truck drivers are out of work. Automation is a very big long-term threat to the unemployment rate.

School bus driver... is imagine that'll be tougher to automate... you need someone on any bus but particularly a school bus...bmw wrote:I don't know what your job is, but....NS8401 wrote:I'm worried about my job with it...

Re: Self-driving cars
Research done by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute suggests any sort of wide spread driver-less vehicles is a long way away.... and..... research suggests it is very unclear whether driver-less cars can ever be as safe as an experienced middle age driver. They can be statistically safer than young inexperienced drivers and older drivers who arguably shouldn't be driving anymore .

Re: Self-driving cars
I wonder how well self-driving vehicles would handle towing. As a driver towing boats, trailers, etc, I know there are lots of different considerations and maneuvers to make in split-seconds that are different than driving a car by itself. I'm sure whatever calculations are made to direct a self-driving vehicle wouldn't account for added weight, length, aerodynamics, and pull from what the vehicle is dragging behind it.

Maybe self driving cars can copy the Doritos slogan:

I like driving. Hands on the wheel, hitting curves, accelerating off of the line.

6 years later, still no way I'm ever getting into a driverless car. Today's headline: "Driverless cars can be tricked into seeing red traffic lights as green"
How do you trick them? Just point a laser at their camera.

Is that a Spanish member of the LGBTQLMNOP community?
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.
