Here's what I don't "get" regarding the Olympics....
Training for dozens of hours weekly for years, and largely abandoning any leisure activities or social life, seems like a horrible tradeoff in hopes of winning a Gold medal.
Few people remember Silver or Bronze winners. They are unlikely to get big money from endorsement deals or speaking engagements. The only value, really, is street cred if you wish to become a coach or open a training facility.
I find the whole concept weird if not a bit repulsive.
By the way, the street value of a bronze medal is reportedly less than $5. Yes, you read that correctly.

DTE Energy paid $752 million in dividends to its shareholders last fiscal year. Remember that the next time they ask the MPSC to approve rate hikes.

Definitely takes a certain person. I used to live a few doors down from Butch May, Misty May's dad. She was doing some remodeling her house in Long Beach and stayed with him for a while. Ran into her in the park walking our dogs and they immediately loved each other so while they were frolicking, we bullshitted for a while. She's a very driven woman, even then when she had retired from competing. (Also a butterface).

Her face ain't bad per the photos I saw online. The rest of her body features look very masculine, though. Yuck.
I do not find muscular women attractive at all.

Well, she had a nice ass and very muscular legs. But her shoulders were not those of a feminine woman. And her dog was much cuter.

I think I'd rather win a bronze than a silver. You win a silver and you're pissed you missed the gold. With a bronze, you figure you're just glad to have medalled.

It is better for the athletes now than back in, say the '60's when you could not compete in the Olympics if you made money. Remember Jim Thorpe?
I got paid $100 for working with a HS track team back in the day and when handed the money by the AD the end of the season, I was told, "If you want to compete again you will have to pay it back."
Now these people get money to just show up. The days of true amateur are long gone.

The Japan women's soccer team is not a good looking squad.

Misty May married a backup catcher.
Matt Treanor was with the 2009 Tigers but was injured.
That was year they lost game 163 in Minnesota.
I haven't watched any of this years events. I prefer the winter games.
