The local media was probably waiting for some involvement by the legal system in the situation.

Florida police are actively investigating the alleged crimes, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.

According to the Detroit News, he's a freelancer and not an employee of either Diamond Sports or the Tigers, which further explains his situation. Both organizations have done all they can do by simply cutting ties with him.

Monroe, 47, is a freelance employee who was paid on a per-game basis for his work on the Tigers' television and radio broadcasts, with no minimum or maximum number of games in his agreement. Monroe received no health insurance or other benefits through his work on television or radio, and he is not being compensated during his absence. Bally Sports Detroit paid him for his work on TV, and the Tigers paid him for his work on radio.

As someone who has investigated more sex abuse cases than I care to admit and remember, waiting years to disclose sex abuse is not at all unusual
