Another series win for the Tigers! Decent start for Maeda.

I took off work to see the game. Lots of Cardinals fans there- I am assuming tourists or transplants rather than locals. Maeda was strong. Defense helped too. Bats still need to heat up. Decent base running minus getting thrown out at second.

Vierling and Perez need to stay in the lineup. Parker Meadows should be the one sent to Toledo when Urshela comes back (he only pinch ran today, and there weren’t many cheers when he entered the game when announced).

Wentz has been surprisingly good. Maybe he figured things out between last season and this.

Someone was wearing a Quintin Berry jersey!

They need to keep looking in the rear view mirror. Minnesota has won 10 straight and are 17-13.

Seven of those wins were against the White Sox, but still a good stretch.

I wonder if it will take a bad weekend in New York to shake up the roster. The bullpen can't be expected to keep defending 1-0 leads. The Tigers next play in Cleveland, which isn't far from Columbus, where Toledo is playing this weekend.

Glad that Valenti isn't on the air today. He would have been insufferable gloating about "his" Yankees.

TORK REPORT: Especially stellar performance from the former #1 pick today! 0 for 4 with 2K's and a DP in the 9th. Batting average up (down) to a blistering .205.

Send this bum to Toledo. Maybe he can work something out because he is lost right now.

Meadows should be the first to get sent down. Keith probably goes before Tork.

Tork plays a good first base, or so I've heard.

This is a .500 ball club as constructed. Those expecting this squad to be a playoff contender this year have excessively lofty expectations.

I would mostly agree except that .500 might be a bit lofty.

I will agree that there's a better chance this club ultimately wins 77 or 78 games than, say, 85 games.

I disagree. This team can contend for the AL Central if they start hitting. Torkelson, Keith, Baez, etc. have been complete disappointments. But it's early May, they can still figure things out at the plate, and this team can win some games. Our pitching staff is more than doing their job.
