I was surprised they picked Jahmyr Gibbs didn't see that one coming a mile away for the Lions like Jack Campbell at number 18, surprised that Porter JR is still on the board and thought he be picked in the 20s maybe be a Lion at pick 34.

Holmes in his presser said, essentially, the picks were a combination of sticking to their board, fitting the culture, and "fitting our team" -- which I take to mean offensive and defensive schemes.

In addition to Porter there are also the big guards Avila and Torrence as well as the big DT Keeanu Benton and DB Brian Branch. With three picks in the second round we should come away with a good haul...barring more trades. Reiterating what I wrote elsewhere, I can't believe Holmes will keep, now TEN picks.

It's interesting that QB Will Levis is still out there. I love it when all the professional GMs completely flummox all the professional pundits. :lol

In Holmes We Trust :hat

A thought on Jalen Carter: The Eagles are probably the best destination for him. It's somewhat tantamount to the Pistons drafting Darko; i.e., worth the risk for that team at that time.

I'm happy with their second pick, so my complaints about their first pick are now lessened.

It is nuts that they have 5 picks between the first 2 rounds. If they had their eyes on a running back all along, then their trade with Arizona to score the 34th overall pick is looking good. Do you think they'll use all of their picks, or might they trade away one or more of their 5th round and beyond picks for an early pick next year?

I think Holmes will NOT keep all his late rounders; he'll be dealing all the way through Day 3 to get "his guy". It'll all be about THIS season, NOT next season. We currently have no picks in Rounds 3 and 4 (I think!) -- that will change. Anything concerning next year's draft will be completely ancillary.

It wouldn't shock me if we traded up to get injured QB Hendon Hooker, just as we did last year with Jamo.

The Lions had a good running game last year. Hey, let's fix what isn't broken!

They want to move Swift now in hopes of acquiring more draft picks. So fucking stupid. So Lions.

I think you all should trust your GM. I told you that last year and you all laughed at me.

We should trust him based on one season? Sorry, these are the Lions. My default position will always be one of strong skepticism. 🙂

If Holmes strings together three consecutive winning seasons, I will be willing to trust his judgment.

I just woke up from a long nap, thanks for the updates.

Wow, we took Laporta ahead of Mayer for a TE. Must be another case of fitting the culture.

Happy about getting Branch, good value. 'Bama and Iowa must be popular in our draft room.

And now they trade down 8 spots to the final 2nd round pick and score an additional pick (4th round). They're up to 10 total picks now.
