Detroit Tigers 2023

My humble hopes for this year:
  • Some sign that Scott Harris's new plans are working. At least to provide a good foundation for next year, when Cabrera's contract is finally off the books, and Mize and Skubal return.
  • Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson establish themselves as solid major leaguers, to justify their selection as first round picks.
  • Jake Rogers establishes himself as a solid major leaguer, to show some kind of return on the Verlander trade.
  • Miguel Cabrera transitions into coaching by mid-season. I'm glad the Tigers made him prepare for this season and show up, but it's obvious that he is hindering the progress of promising young players.

My hope is that they finish .500 or above and they don’t have near the amount of injuries that they did last year…

It's not looking good to start in April. First 37 of 40 games are against teams with a better than .500 record last year.

The Tigers and Royals will fight for last place. My prediction is Cleveland winning the division.

To be the best, you have to beat the best.

Agree on all points.

Seeing that Scott Harris' MO is controlling the strike zone, another season of watching Javier.Baez swinging at pitches a mile outside may tax his patience and ours. Here's hoping the latter exercises his opt-out after this season.

To quote Ruth Langmore, "I don't know shit about fuck" when it comes to baseball, but I'll go with 84-78.

It's hard to follow your team when access is limited. Bally Sports is not on Dish Network. I feel $20 for the Bally app sub is too much, and a MLBTV is useless because local teams are blacked out. It's hard to follow a team seeing highlights on TV or reading about it in the paper.

4-0 Rays. Tigers had six hits and strike outs. First regular season game for Bobby Scales on the radio. He was okay.

First opening day shutout since 1989, and the sixth in franchise history.

Is it a good sign to get shut out on opening day? Wasn't that an Alanis Morissette lyric?

Is it too late to switch to 0-162?

Fuck the pitch clock. They ruined my favorite sport.

Just a reminder: The World Series Champion '68 Detroit Tigers lost the first game of the season. :razz

FWIW, Gregory Soto got lit up in his Phillies debut, walking two of the four batters he faced, getting none out.

You have no idea how happy I was when they announced they traded Soto. That Phillies debut just solidified it…
