Moving the fences inward at Comerica sure worked wonders! LOL

Sawyer Gipson-Long looks like a keeper! Chalk one up on the plus side for Al Avila. ;)

Getting to .500 would be tough, but it’s not impossible. Toughest series left is 3 against the Dodgers in LA.
They/them, non-binary and proud.

It's too bad that Alex Lange, who blew the lead, got the win instead of Gipson-Long.

The Tigers might have an interesting problem next spring—five young starters competing for spots in the rotation (Skubal, Manning, Mize, Olson, and Gipson-Long). I'm sure that the Tigers will be acquiring one or two veteran starters in trades or free agency, so I wonder what they might do with the young pitchers who don't make the rotation.

You just KNOW one or two of 'em will come up with a bum arm in spring training. :rolleyes :?

I agree. The Tommy John surgery is almost becoming a standard thing for a young pitcher.

Eduardo Rodriguez left tonight's game early. Dodgers 8-3.

Rodriguez took the loss, falling to 11-9 on the season.

Tigers are now 70-80, one game away from being eliminated from the wild card.

The elimination number in the division is 4, Cleveland's is 5. Tigers are 1.5 games behind Cleveland for second place.

It's not like the Twins will do anything. They haven't won a playoff game in 19 years.

Wow, that I didn't know.

Has anyone noticed Jake Rogers' power stroke of late? He's going for the downs on every swing. He joins the "exclusive" Tigers catchers with 20 homers club.

And old friend J.D. Martinez is still knockin' 'em in.

Looking at the remaining schedule, with my guess at the Tigers' record:

at Los Angeles Dodgers (0-2)
at Oakland A's (3-1)
(Back to Detroit :( but against two Central Division foes :) )
Kansas City Royals (2-1)
Cleveland Indians (2-1)

So that would put them at 77-85, a big step up from last year, and a reasonably good foundation year for next year.

In one of the last games played by Miguel Cabrera, who helped turn J.D. into a great hitter when J.D. came to Detroit in 2014.

J.D. launched another into the seats last night, his third in the two games. If any player was made for the DH, it is he.

Tigers could have easily taken two of three from the Dodgers in L.A. with a little luck, but I'll take the one win. Hopefully they keep it up against the dregs of MLB coming up. It's looking good for my goal of under 90 losses for the.season.

Interesting series. Based on this series, the only difference between the great Dodgers and the below average Tigers are a few missed pitches by Alex Lange at the end of the second game. Gives me some hope that the Tigers will be in contention for a playoff spot next year.

Nice tribute to Kirk Gibson at Dodger Stadium last night:
