Looks like you're not alone as far as any interest in the World Cup. This thread is the first mention of it anywhere on Buzzboard. I personally could care less. Absolutely no one in my circle has brought it up.
From moron matt1...
Until I saw this story, I hadn't realized I had done that, too.
An article I had read (https://www.npr.org/2022/12/09/11420548 ... -world-cup) stated he had been ill in the days leading up to his death, perhaps with bronchitis. I'm not convinced that Qatar didn't engage in some individual biological warfare.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 6:22 amNever heard of the guy until yesterday, but I agree the circumstances sound suspicious.
I normally DO watch, but I refuse to support a host country that would rather I die. This was completely ill advised. I look forward to watching again with a better host country. Other than China or Russia, this is one of the worst possible choices.
Yeah! Imagine how bad it would be if you were gay and liked beer? I can't imagine why Germany even sent a team.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 4:32 pmI normally DO watch, but I refuse to support a host country that would rather I die. Grant Wahl's wife is Dr. Celine Gounder, who is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at New York University’s Grossman School of Medicine, and who served on the Biden-Harris Transition COVID-19 Advisory Board. Considering her significant medical experience and background, I suspect that she will be highly motivated to do everything possible to help determine her husband's (untimely and highly suspicious) cause of death.radioandtventhusiast wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 3:07 pmIt's sad as Grant was a great soccer writer for decades, often considered by many to be the best soccer writer in the U.S. I truly hope it was just a heart attack out of the blue. He said he was tired and couldn't sleep with all the games going on, and said he wasn't feeling well over the past few days. I used to see his name all of the time in Sports Illustrated. I hope they do an autopsy in the U.S. to see what really happened to him. May he R.I.P. It's just sad all around.
I have enjoyed The World Cup and rooting for USA I'll be watching France VS Morocco tomorrow. Just because I don't like the host country's political and human rights for big sports events I'll watch the Olympics, The World Cup no matter what. I had no problems with the media companies that did or didn't report on Qatar's lack of human rights as most just wanted to watch matches of The World Cup.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 4:32 pmI normally DO watch, but I refuse to support a host country that would rather I die.
