I was checking the Internet to get the latest news on baseball trades. I saw an article about reliever Matt Bush being traded to the Milwaukee Brewers. Something about that name was familiar. I looked up his record and he was the Number 1 draft pick by San Diego in 2004. That allowed the Tigers to pick Justin Verlander at Number 2.

Bush seems to have had a long and difficult baseball journey. There are significant gaps in his baseball resume, and he didn't make it to the majors until 30. https://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... sh--001mat

That's what they get for drafting the local boy. :razz I like his listed positions - relief pitcher and shortstop. Reminds me of high school. :lol

Speaking of Verlander, he'll be a stud horse pitching till he's in his mid-40s, maybe more, now that he has a bionic arm. :smokin

The Tigers just traded Fulmer.

Sounds like rebuild #2 is afoot.

Fulmer was on an expiring contract. He should be delighted he's going to a team (Twins) with a decent shot of making the post season.

I suspect Chris Apathy Ilitch will allow Al Avila to keep his job.

Great job by the Tigers front office. Didn't they nix a Bregman for Fulmer trade years ago? Now, let's trade him to a team in our division for a batting practice arm.

Avila shouldn't be fired....he should be shot.

I was listening to the MLB Network on SiriusXM around the time of the trade deadline yesterday. They were talking positively about all the deals that Dave Dombrowski was swinging for the Philadelphia Phillies. The same Dave Dombrowski who was spitefully fired in August 2015 by Mike Ilitch and then replaced by a life-long assistant, Al Avila. The dominoes continued to fall at the end of the season, when Avila didn't have the backbone to fire Brad Ausmus when the team was still loaded with talent.

Annnnd Al Avila has been shown the door! Maybe this team could be competitive again in the next five years.

I'm pleasantly surprised.

It was the right move for sure.

Mr. Avila seems like a very decent man; I have no personal animus toward him and wish him well.

The timing is interesting. Did Ilitch get an earful from Lou Whitaker number retirement ceremony attendees?

Doesn't tigers talk beling in the chatterbox?

What's more pathetic: harassing an old man who is paying to do a radio show or supporting a grifter like Trump?

I love how the Freep and The Detroit News have completely buried this story on their respective mobile friendly web sites. Puff pieces get top billing regularly. Hard news, though, gets buried.

Each paper's Sports Editor is a joke.

What do the sports editors have to do with a non-sports story?

LOL.

Ironically, within the last 15 minutes, the Freep and Detroit News posted stories prominently on their home pages.

In all seriousness, I was shocked when I noticed the same thing earlier.

Was at the CoPa Saturday. Painfully obvious that the Tigers didn’t want to hear the boos as both Chris Illitch and Al Avila were sitting on the main stage with Tram and Lou. Neither Chris or Al were introduced to the crowd
