Very happy to get a young goaltender Canes got fleece why make that deal if I was a Canes fan I wouldn't be happy with that trade. Great deal by Steve Yzerman now fire Jeff Blashill why does he still have a job?

Why would he fire Blashill when he just extended him? The issue is the abysmal failure of roster management from Ken Holland.

Don't believe Matt? Just look at how quickly Holland is destroying Edmonton.
Holland's one skill was being able to spend Illitch's money without restrictions. Once the rest of the NHL put an end to that with a salary cap, Holland has displayed that he has no idea how to be an effective GM.

Not having followed the Wings or the NHL too closely the past few seasons, is this guy now the de facto #1 goaltender?

He'll compete with Griess to be the starter ... or more likely it'll continue as a platoon.
I don't think the expectation is anything more than getting a guy with more potential upside (younger, decent contract). Buys them more time than resigning Bernier or someone similar.

Didn't the Oilers finish 35-19-2 this season?
Look, I wanted Holland outta here much sooner, but I'm not quite sure how one could argue he is (already) destroying Edmonton.

Matt's right on this one. We have the anti Ken Holland. We have a GM who will fight for talent. The Wings will be on their way soon.
