Predictions regarding Blashill's future?

Post by MWmetalhead » Sun May 09, 2021 6:45 pm

My prediction: he's done. Should've been dismissed a year ago.

I think they "promote" him to the front office. He's been a good soldier for the organ-eye-zation, first in Grand Rapids and then in Detroit.

It is time for new voices behind the bench.

60/40 that he's done. It depends on if Yzerman has someone he likes better. The team improved from last year, but the offense needs to improve. I don’t see a homerun hire, but given the results, it's crazy that Blashill is the third longest tenured.

Interesting theory, and depending on the role, I might have no issue with that.

Gerard Gallant is probably on the short list to succeed Blashill, if Blashill indeed is removed from his head coaching duties. Gallant's track record as a head coach is a mixed bag (more good than bad), and he does have the extremely impressive distinction of taking the Golden Knights all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural season.

The way the Florida Panthers treated Mr. Gallant was shameful.

Ken Holland fucked over this organization so bad...

Choosing Howard over Mrazek AND feeding bullshit to lapdog beat writers about Mrazek was terrible.

Also, signing the likes of Abdelkader and Nielson to long term deals really hurt the franchise.

I won't miss him. I cannot pretend to predict what the Wings will do. Getting rid of Mantha was a shock for me.

They/them, non-binary and proud.

Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Do you really think a new coach would have changed the timeline?

Maybe; maybe not.

Chris Ilitch is cheap; that much I know.

Blashill had an expired contract. How is giving him a new contract cheap? There would have been no penalty for bringing in someone new. The decision was Yzerman's.

Why does Blashill still have a job? All this does is delay the rebuild.

It's cheap because Blashill was only making $1.6 mill a year, and this appears to be a short term extension at similar money.

Any big free agency signings for either the Wings or Tigers lately?
