Should the NFL make changes to how the 1st round draft order is determined?

Did anyone watch the Eagles intentionally TANK last night? For the 4th quarter, they put in a quarterback who didn't even look competent enough to lead a high school team, despite the fact that they were within 1 score of winning. It was painful to watch. And they no doubt did so to improve their draft position. Resting your players once you already have a playoff spot locked is one thing, but tanking when you are in position to quite possibly win the game when literally 2 different teams' playoff aspirations depend on your performance, just so you can have a better draft pick, is another story entirely. And in prime-time.

I think they should go in the direction of a draft lottery similar to what the NBA does, where any team that doesn't make the playoffs has an equal chance at getting one of the top 4 picks.

That's not how the NBA does it. They have weighted chances depending how bad the teams record is. The worst team gets the most chances at #1, the second worst the next best chance, etc. Anyway, how would that have changed them from tanking? They went from a 9 pick to a 6 pick by losing. If there was a lottery, they might have even gotten a better pick.

The NHL also has a weighted system, one that ended up fucking the Wings last year. The Wings didn’t even intentionally tank, unless you can call employing Ken Holland too long as tanking...

Lock draft positions in the order teams are eliminated from the playoffs (by week) with the tiebreaker being the inverse of last year's draft order. So if team A and team B are both eliminated in week 14, whichever team had the lowest pick last year goes first this year.

To make matters worse, it was on Sunday Night Football! The only way it would've been any worse is if Lincoln Financial Field was full of Eagles fans

That's a good point. Would Pederson have done that if there were fans in the stands? Philly fans booed Santa Claus for crissake.....

Whether or not intentional on the part of coach or higher-ups, Coach Pederson was just fired for his trouble. Is he also in the mix for the myriad head coaching positions available?

FWIW, I don't like the various draft lotteries in professional sports. Even straight drafting based on team records is a lottery for the most part; one never knows what they have till the players hit the field.
