AP Football Top 25 Big Ten Edition

Post by Deleted User 8570 » Sun Sep 25, 2016 10:32 pm

Why not track the rankings for the Big 10 teams?

For this week:
#2 Ohio State
#4 Michigan
#8 Wisconsin
#15 Nebraska
#17 Michigan State

Interesting aside... next weeks matchup between Wisconsin and Michigan will be their first meeting since 2010... one would think they'd play more often than that...

Two different realignments where the teams weren't in the same division either time is mostly responsible. If the current alignment holds, I don't believe there will ever be more than a 4 year gap, which is still too long IMO.

While not Big 10 it's worth mentioning that Western Michigan went from 24 to 20.

Here is an excerpt from the latest AP Top 25 (hot off the press):

1. Alabama (60), 8-0
2. Michigan (1), 7-0
3. Clemson, 7-0
4. Washington, 7-0
5. Louisville, 6-1
6. Ohio State, 6-1
7. Nebraska, 7-0
8. Baylor, 6-0
9. Texas A&M, 6-1
10. West Virginia, 6-0

Hmmm...I wonder who voted U-M #1? Does Wojo have voting rights?? :razz

Personally, I'd put the Huskies at #3, Clemson at #4, Ohio State at #5, Louisville at #6, Nebraska at #7, Baylor at #8, A&M at #9 and West Virginia at #10.

Other notables: Wisconsin is #11 (I agree with this), Western Michigan is #20 (kudos to them), and Penn State is #24.

Florida State is #12. They ought to be several spots lower than that.

Scott Wolf of the Los Angles Daily News. He has voted them #1 every week beginning with the first preseason vote. People laughed at him early on but now it appears he was not that "delusional".
I am not sure if he ever had a Michigan connection of any sort.

It's owned by the same company as The Detroit News, Digital First Media.
