It's been conjectured that the nearly 30-second delay in throwing the flag was due to the officials upstairs calling down to the ref and pointing out the fact he announced Skipper (#70) as eligible, how can Decker's catch be legit?

I agree, it's come to the point that EVERYTHING should be reviewable and some on-field in-game "restitution" should be applied. These refs are becoming too much a part of the outcomes.

We know who Campbell is by now....he rolls the dice. I personally liked the try for 2, especially with Jameson in the tent and probably not able to play in OT. It succeeded too, but the refs fucked up.

While I agree he should have taken the FG, I accept that is who he is. If he worked he's a genius. I disagreed with the fake punt, but it worked, so nobody is bitching at him for that.

This was not a missed judgement call. The officials simply can never make that mistake. It's inexcusable. Especially considering the ramifications of the playoffs. And if it's true Campbell advised them before the game, it even makes the negligence worse.

As an aside, I am now rooting for a Lions v. Cowboys rematch in the 2nd round of the playoffs, and it would be in Detroit. Detroit is all but locked into a 3-seed now so the following would have to happen for this rematch to occur:

-Philly win the East (likely given their final 2 opponents)
-Philly lose their first playoff game (I'd say possible given how poorly they've played as of late)
-Detroit and Dallas each win their first round game (Dallas likely going to Tampa Bay, easily winnable for them)
What seems most likely for us in the first round?

The officiating crew that blew the call last night will reportedly be demoted and most of them will not work in the postseason. They called tripping on the wrong team earlier in the game which I think went against Dallas if I remember right.

Here are the odds according to the NYT playoff predictor:

41% Seattle
33% Rams
26% Winner of today's Green Bay vs. Minnesota game

(though it won't be Minnesota if Detroit beats them next week)

I think I want the Rams...

49ers won in Washington. They remain the one seed.

Philadelphia lost to Arizona. Dallas moves into the second seed.

Tampa Bay lost to New Orleans. Still the fourth seed.

The Rams beat the Giants by 1. Still the six seed at 9-7

Gonna be Lions and Rams in the WC. Rams will win in SF since the Niners aren't playing for anything. If the Lions win, the most likely play in Dallas thanks to the buttfuck last night.

Boomer Esiason also agrees, The Lions got hosed, the two-point conversion should have stood
Throwing the flag a minute after the play was over is blatant "No way Lions can win on Jimmy Johnson Ring Of Honor Day"...
Once again, the NFL clowns called officials f*ck over the Lions...

Oh good god... who would Dallas get in the first round?

NFL website shows:
Dallas-Seattle
Us and the Rams
Tampa and Philly

#2 plays #7 in round one. Dallas is now the two seed.

#3 plays #6.

Seattle and L.A. are jostling for #6 and #7, but Green Bay and Minnesota remain in the hunt, too.

The main advantage of being a 2 seed is greater likelihood of being able to play multiple playoff games at home.

The Philly loss to Arizona - at home, no less - is stunning! Cardinals outscored the Eagles 29 to 10 in the second half, I believe. Philly dropped from 2 all the way to 5 as a result of that loss.

Dallas at Washington, Philly at Giants next Sunday. Those eliminated teams will at least be motivated to play hard.

Matt is probably licking his chops at the notion of his Bucs facing the slumping Eagles!

Eagles have lost 4 of 5. The wheels have come off in stunning fashion.

Another shocker today is the fact the Ravens absolutely destroyed the Dolphins. To make matters worse for Miami - Tagovailoa left the game in Q4 due to an apparent shoulder injury.

In a Dallas-Seattle matchup I think Seattle would have a chance.

I heard audio of the referee clearing saying #70 is an eligible receiver over his mic to the entire stadium. So the Lions share some blame for not correcting that error.
And I am back to wondering, if the defense has to be informed of a lineman being a receiver, why bother to run the play? You have one less actual receiver as an option in exchange for some guy too fat and slow to be a tight end.
