I'm not sold he'll win a playoff game, but I'm also not sold that he'll fail to do so.

Way to take a stand. :P

In all fairness, it is less about Goff and more about the Lions as an organization since they haven't won a playoff game in 31 years.

The first winning season by one of the four major Detroit pro sports teams since—surprise, surprise—the Lions in 2017.

Other last winning seasons:
Tigers: 2016
Pistons: 2015-2016 (came close in 2018-2019 with 41-41 record)
Red Wings: 2015-2016

If the Lions win a playoff game next season, I will deem the era of "Same Old Lions" to be over.

Lest there be any doubt, I am quite satisfied with how this season turned out. It exceeded my expectations.

So the last time anybody was “good” everybody was good….

One thing about the Ram/Seahawks game. I was surprised how much Fox was showing Ram's coach Sean McVay talking on his headset in the 4th quarter. Did anyone else watching the game think "If I could read lips, I'd know what the next play is going to be"?. Or was it just me.

Not just you... now that you mention it they only seemed to show Pete Carroll smiling and firing up the crowd.

Makes you wonder if USA Today would take back their rather optimistic - if not laughable - prediction a few weeks ago on the Lions' 2022 season...
 Guess I have to give credit where credit is due, and eat my own hat...

https://www.nfl.com/standings/

The USA Today predictor was spot-on!

If, either earlier this year or in any of the recent past years, you said....

"The LIONS are going to have a better season record than the Packers, Bears, Rams, Saints, Patriots, and Buccaneers , and have a record near or as good as the Giants, Seahawks, and Steelers", people would think you were really nuts.

I'm okay with saying I was wrong. I thought, at the beginning of the season, 5 wins would have been a stretch. We all laughed at Matt, but he called it. 9 wins when we expected dead last? Playoff picture? One game out? And then to kick the Packers' nuts? Awesome.

I had the Lions winning only 6 games this season on the low end on the high end was 8 wins having 9 wins is the cherry on top. And sweeping the evil empire Packers and winning 3 in a row is great. Just proud that the team battled after 1-6 start and going 8-2 in the final 10 games and getting back into the playoff hunt I didn't think they would make the playoffs I thought more likely in year 3.

Ditto! Hopefully through the draft and free agency they can procure some much needed depth on defense.

+1.

Also would like to see another good WR added.

Wow, we're pretty crowded at the position as it is. D.J. Chark, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Kalif Raymond, Josh Reynolds -- that's a pretty formidable WR corps right there. Chark is a free agent; hopefully he re-signs...cheap.

I doubt Quintez Cephus will be back; he can't stay healthy. He was decent on special teams when available, however.
