Conference championship games should be unnecessary after this year.

Bama wins by 3!

I think both they and Georgia will make the national championship playoffs. Bama gets in for sure. Georgia given its body of work and very close loss should be a 3 or 4 seed. Michigan must win tonight to get in. Florida State is obviously rooting hard for an upset by the Hawkeyes.

I suspect if Michigan wins in a landslide, they'll be the 1 seed for sure. If the win by, say, only a touchdown (or less), then I have no flipping clue how the seeding will work.

FSU wins and neither Bama or Georgia will go.

I would be stunned if there is no SEC team represented.

Washington defeating the Ducks by only 3 has definitely added to the drama. So, they are obviously rooting for a U-M loss as well.

Another team rooting for a Michigan loss:
Texas.

Despite their win over Alabama, Texas has a string of very close wins against simply "good" or average teams. They suffered a close defeat to Oklahoma.

The pundits on FOX think Texas is now a lock to get in. I disagree.

I am going to walk back my comment about Georgia getting in. I now think that is unlikely.

If Michigan wins and if Florida State convincingly wins, I think Michigan, Alabama, Washington and Florida State will be the four teams.

If either Michigan or Florida State loses, Texas gets in.

If both Michigan and Florida State lose, then both Texas and Georgia get in.

If Florida State wins in a squeaker against Louisville, man, that becomes a tough call for the four seed! Coin toss between FSU and Texas.

If Michigan and FSU win then I see the three no loss teams a lock.
The 1 loss team will be....
1. Alabama
2. OSU.
3. Georgia.

How are the finalists determined? Is it a popularity contest?

By committee. 13 individuals.

Years ago, it used to be determined via computer generated ranking.

There is a 13 (?) member committee. They look at records quality of opponents played and a couple other things I forget.

So it's up to these guys?

Given how popular the SEC seems to be, I would imagine everyone involved would want them in the finals. This is basically a political vote.

It's not a political vote. The members are from all over. There are two from the BIG 10 this year and only one from the SEC.
Don't think for a minute the non SEC members are in love with the SEC because they are not.

Let’s just have ESPN place the teams. That’ll settle it.

The injuries are definitely impeding the effectiveness of Michigan's O-line so far tonight. As a result, Michigan's running game has stunk.

Thankfully, Michigan's defense has played very well so far.

Michigan up 10-0 at halftime. Michigan gets the football to begin the 3rd.

Loveland had a bad drop on Michigan's second to last drive of the 2nd quarter, which if caught, would've extended the drive, would've moved Michigan to mid-field, and would've given Michigan a good opportunity to score on that drive.
