Maybe it's time for the media to start questioning A.J. Hinch and Scott Harris.
Hinch is in his fourth year, and there has been no real progress since his first year. The Tigers are on pace to match Hinch's first year, when they were 77-85.
Harris was brought here to build on Avila's work, which wasn't perfect, but Avila did hire some people who Harris has kept (Harris, Ryan Garko, Chris Fetter), and Avila did try to build up the team's analytics staff (
https://www.mlb.com/news/tigers-make-mu ... promotions). Harris has failed two big tests—trading Edwin Rodriguez last year, and using Miguel Cabrera's old salary to sign a proven hitter for DH.
I felt Harris made insufficient personnel moves last off-season. Instead of bringing proven on-field talent to Detroit, he seemed more focused on hiring front office bureaucracy.
If Hinch hired lousy batting coaches, he deserves some blame. Otherwise, he deserves none. I felt this was a .500 roster at best at the start of the season.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

The starter can't do much without any offense.
The Tigers didn't get a hit until the sixth inning.
They were outscored 26 to 9 in Kansas City,
Currently 18-26 since starting 5-0. That puts them 9.5 games back in the AL Central.
What's scary is that last year's 78-84 record included a 35-17 record against AL Central teams. Kansas City and Cleveland have improved considerably since last year.

Other than the White Sox, the AL Central is no slouch. I could see either the Guardians, Twins, or Royals going to the ALCS. All three teams have clear strengths whereas the AL west is garbage. The AL East is good but not as good as last year.
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

I’m undecided on the Royals. I don’t see the pitching holding up. There are a few slouches in the lineup that need to pick it up if they want to catch Cleveland. Perez isn’t getting any younger, and even DHing more, won’t keep hitting .340
Cleveland has been known for collapses in the past. I see them getting another arm or bat, possibly both by the deadline. Budget is the main thing.
Tigers offense is putrid again as I type this. Does Hinch or any of his coaching staff make it to September?

Toronto 9, Detroit 1.
Pitching gave up another 13 hits.
Riley Greene, 0-3, 3k. Ibanez had a pinch hit single for Greene in the 9th.
Ten games back. I'm starting to get a Pistons vibe with this team.

Here's what Rod Beard of the Detroit News said about the new President of Basketball Operations for the Detroit Pistons:
In his five seasons as the Pelicans' GM, [Trajan] Langdon established a reputation for his personnel moves and draft picks, while working with New Orleans team president David Griffin. Langdon also learned from his time with the Brooklyn Nets in his role as an assistant general manager under Sean Marks.
Didn't we hear the same general blather about Scott Harris when he was hired as POBO of the Tigers?

He's now 1-5 and sixth in the majors in ERA. The five pitchers ahead of him have a collective record of 28-3.

Interestingly, today the Tigers face Toronto's version of Olson, Yusei Kikuchi, who is 2-4 with a 2.64 ERA.

Maybe to wash those ugly Lucky Charm uniforms that they have been wearing since Friday night.

The Tigers were on Roku yesterday, with Dan Dickerson and Joe Carter announcing. Dan and Joe talked about Joe's historic three-run homer to end the 1993 World Series. So naturally, the Tigers win on a game-ending three-run homer.

Kerry Carpenter is on the IL, with lumbar spine inflammation. Akil Baddoo is coming back up.
Tigers 8-0 in game one.

I hate these new uniforms. The Pirates looked more like the Tigers than they did. If I was new, I would have thought that I was watching the Motor City Meijers.
