You think Warde Mamuel is a good AD?

I do think that there is evidence that Warde is a good AD - last year was an exceptional season for most sports with many conference championships, but the common complaints are that Warde doesn't publicly advocate enough for the programs (ohio state 2016) and doesn't appear to embrace NIL.

The NIL thing is happening, and you will see the activity ramp up in the coming months. Warde hasn't been the issue with Michigan not moving as fast as some would like.

In terms of the Mel situation, when his contract expired, things changed with his status, including the possibility of being fired for cause. He was entitled to ANY rights an at-will employee at U-M not in the initial probationary period would have had. There are processes in place that exist at most, if not all schools, that make it hard to fire people. The media (and JUB, for that matter) represented the issue as black and white, when significant levels of gray existed. It seems likely that Mel is keeping his legal options open. It's noteworthy that an interim has not been named and the job has not yet been posted. (Edit: decision likely coming today on interim OR national search. An encore for Red is on the table.)
