Not true. 15 cent intervals between now and October 2020. The full 45 cents would be phased in by October 2020.
There is a lot to unwind with regard to her proposal. I'll offer detailed thoughts later today.
I'll conclude for now with this - Bill Schuette was 100 percent right!!!

I got over 430,000 miles on original set of wheel bearings, front struts and ball joints. I did replace inner joint on rack-and-pinion.TC Talks wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 11:40 amI don't mind a bit of an increase. I drive 70k a year (down from much more) and I have gone through many bearings in the past two years. That's costing me too...TheForce wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 11:30 amIt's funny. Everyone agrees our roads are bad, everyone agrees something needs to be done. But yet nobody wants to pay for it. I guess people rather pay hundreds of dollars paying out of pocket for car repairs due to our piss poor roads. Our elected leaders have really failed us on this. Because of that we have to pick up the slack to get this done. Not an optimal choice but when our leaders can't agree on anything what else can be done? The roads will only deteriorate more in the meantime.

Schuette was only 44.4% correct - he said her plan would raise the tax 20 cents. She dismissed the claim. The budget proposal has very little chance of passing.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 12:34 pmNot true. 15 cent intervals between now and October 2020. Let's just forget about this 45 cent gas tax and make it 20 cents and divert the 6% sales tax on gas towards roads.
Re: Gretcholm wants to raise fuel taxes by 45 cents/gallon by 2020
Not 3 years, 1 year that’s what was said this morning, It starts in October 2019 for the first .15 then April 2020 the second .15 then October 2020 the last .15 so in 1 and a half years from when it starts it would be .45 additional per gallon.

You realize this graphic shows that the gas tax is NOT just paying for road work, right? If you want to repeal the pension tax (we shouldn't) and increase the EITC, it is very dishonest to do it through a 171% gas tax increase.

People incur an additional $562 per year in damage to their vehicle due to poor roads as compared to if the roads were better?
I'm not buying it.

I don't remember the last time I paid ANYTHING for road related repairs.

Neither Am I, If you fail to maintain your vehicle on a regular basis shit happens, I’m not saying that the roads aren’t bad because they really are, But I bet if you don’t maintain your vehicle you may already have issues with the suspension that could lead to other problems if you hit a chuck hole.

In the graphic I was more trying to highlight the $30 EIC for low income families. $30 isn't a lot though.

I guess I'd be curious how or if other state models were looked at and studied. How do other states maintain the roads and not raise taxes sky high....Did Governor Whitmer and her cronies look at any reallocation of funds in the budget or just "take the easy way out" ? Looking at your expenditures in the state budget would have been a little more time consuming and some difficult choices may have had to be made. Perhaps the easiest route is just to jack up the gas tax and who cares about whatever else we use the budget on this is the easiest route? The roads are horrible in this state and will take a long time to get them back up to snuff. I recall some kind of a gas tax (for roads)a few years ago that was shoved down our throats and did not notice any improvement to the roads and I don't even know if it is still purposed for the roads. I don't trust both sides on these issues, they are just out to screw us.

I don't think I put $565 in repairs in 20 years.
