Most Cringy Christmas Music

Post by Deleted User 16093 » Mon Nov 20, 2023 9:57 am

I despise Christmas music with a passion, some of it's worse than others but when I worked retail, I had to listen to Christmas music from Halloween until the first week in January. . I Dunno, it's the sappy NutraSweet lyrics and just a fake sense of reality it portrays. Anyway.. top 5 Christmas songs I hate.

1.Little Drummer Boy- Just something about this one annoys me " Rup a pum pum" :x

2. I saw Mommy kissing santa clause- I think only John Mellencamp did this little ditty. I can't run fast enough

3.Silver Bells-So sappy

4.Last Christmas I gave you my heart- I believe it was WHAM! that did this one. Me no like

5. Sleigh Ride- All versions! Especially the one where the background vocals constantly go " Sleigh Ride Sleigh Ride"  . I'd rather surgery and go to the dentist on the same day than listen to this :x

Ok rant out.

Any Christmas song made by former members of the Beatles.

This topic gets revived every year at this time, but it feels good to rant sometimes. :rollin

My Christmas Music Hall of Shame:
The Christmas Shoes - Newsong
Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid
Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer - Elmo & Patsy
Santa Claus Is Coming to Town - Bruce Springsteen
Anything from any of the American Idol Christmas albums, and anything by NSync or Justin Bieber

Wham! did the original Last Christmas, and believe it or not, their version is probably the only tolerable one. The Taylor Swift version is probably on hell's soundtrack. She's a great songwriter and I like her as a person, but when she sings a song written by someone else all that's there is that thin, pitchy voice, and that has no appeal to me whatsoever. Ditto her version of Santa Baby (no one should have touched that song after Eartha Kitt).
The version of Sleigh Ride you're referring to is probably Debbie Gibson's. I actually kinda like that one,, but we're all different.

Keep McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime" away from my ears and nobody gets hurt.

don't forget Mariah the walking tornado siren.

there are really three categories of Christmas music: Jesus Jesus Jesus, It's Christmas In Norman Rockwell's 1947 America, and This Christmas I Want To Get Laid. All are equally awful.

The Christmas Shoes is the most depressing song of all time. The Carpenters version of Sleigh Ride is pretty good, and Merry Christmas Darling is a standard.

Any Christmas song became gold when Karen sang it. Mariah "the walking tornado siren" ( :rollin ) can try to trademark the phrase "Queen of Christmas" all she wants, but as far as I'm concerned it's Karen Anne Carpenter.
Just put Carpenters and Amy Grant on shuffle and that's all the Christmas music I need.

There were 2 versions of The Carpenters "Merry Christmas Darling" the original in 1970 & the remix in 1978.

I think Karen is also the queen of Christmas. Her angelic voice fits the music perfectly. Mariah is overrated as a Christmas artist.

Paul McCartney has admitted to disliking "Wonderful Christmastime" and only did it because his label wanted him to do it.

I believe it was actually a new recording, not a remix.

Which version do most radio stations play?

Anything by Mannheim Steamroller or Trans-Siberian Express. Except for maybe that sweet-sounding "Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!" song that uses Pachelbel's Canon.
