Hard to believe someone actually got fired for saying that on the radio back then. Nowadays, even some of Carlin's 7 words you can't say on radio and television draw little attention.

I was very fortunate to have met & conversed with Mr. Hesseman on a short flight from Detroit to Pittsburgh back in the mid-90's.

I don't think he really got the amount of recognition he deserved for the level of talent he had, but something makes me think he was OK with it.

RIP to Mr. Hesseman, and peace to his family. And thanks for being Dr. Johnny back when radio was still a thing.

Absolutely loved WKRP when it was on. Have seen every episode multiple times and it’s the only TV series I’ve ever bought a DVD set of. Johnny Fever made that show. RIP

R.I.P. "Johnny Fever", "Charlie Moore", and his original stage name "Don Sturdy". Thanks for the great work, Mr. Hesseman.
