On Freaks And Geeks Mac Davis was the topic of a funny conversation between Lindsay And Millie. They wax poetically about his chest hair. It's Hard To Be Humble is a funny song. Another one of his songs he wrote for Elvis, A Little Less Conversation, shows up in a few commercials, (and was the theme for the NBC TV show Las Vegas.)

A man from back when songwriting could land you a much bigger gig (remember Paul Williams? ).

I remember hearing MD's "Don't Get Hooked On Me", "Hard to be Humble", and "I Believe In Music" frequently back in the 70's, and watching his TV shows & specials. Lately, the aforementioned, "A Little Less Conversation" by Elvis rides frequently in a Toyota TV ad, I believe, but like the Stones' "She's A Rainbow", seems to be quite popular in commercials, but not exclusive to any one brand during the same time period.

Davis was certainly talented, humorous, and likeable. His songs - and smile - were contagious.

On his NBC variety show in 1975, Mac did "Something's Burning" (song that he wrote for the late Kenny Rogers & The First Edition in 1970) & their were flames popping on the screen!!!

I couldn't sleep one Saturday night and I ended up watching an interview with Mac Davis on one of the Saturday night music shows on PBS. Amazing career, much more than I realized.
