If you have never seen it, watch the ABC miniseries "Amerika". Kristofferson plays a presidential candidate who went against the Russian rule in America and is sent to a re-education camp. It was a great series.

He was an amazing legend and talent. A few years ago PBS had a multi-part history of country music. Excellent series. The late 60s early 70s era was covered with extensive coverage and interview with Kristofferson and the people around him during life and his rise to fame. A very hauntingly emotional dark story was told about “me and Bobby McGee” and how Janis Joplin owned the song posthumously. Another similar haunting emotional story told by kristoferson himself and how he came to write the song “why me lord”, his best selling single performed and written by himself.

I saw him and the highwaymen at the palace in Auburn hills, 1990. Sold out show. The loudest cheers were for kristofferson as he sang his solo hits.

Worth checking out.

He starred alongside Ali McGraw in "convoy".
Was a pretty cool movie at the time it came out.
