The Righteous Brothers "Unchained Melody" went to # 4 on August 28 & September 4, 1965. Then returned to the Top 40 at # 13 (Hot 100) on October 20, 1990 when that song was in the movie "Ghost" with the late Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore & Whoppi Goldberg. Then it was recut again from their "Reunion" CD & the new version went to # 19 on November 3, 1990.

Do new versions of a song count?
For example "Layla" by Eric Clapton.

The first time that Derek & The Dominos song "Layla" charted, the song went to # 51 (but it was the short edited Mono version) in May of 1971. Then it returned to the Billboard Hot 100 & this time, it was the long 7:05 album version that song went to # 10 on August 5, 1972 in Mono. Eric Clapton's recut (from "MTV Unplugged") went to # 12 (Hot 100) on November 28, 1992.

On March 3, 2012, the late Whitney Houston's remake of the 1974 Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" hits the Top 10 because of her death & went to # 3. That song spent 14 weeks at # 1 from November 28, 1992 till February 27, 1993.

"What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong was first released in 1967, and then re-entered the charts in 1988, thanks to the movie "Good Morning, Vietnam".

Also Tony Bennett also did "What A Wonderful World" (from 1970 "Something" album) which Tony says "I seen Louie shakin' hands & he is sayin' how do you do, he's really sayin' I love you". Back in 2002, Tony dueted with Canadian singer k.d. lang (title track to the CD) which won a Grammy.

Neil Diamond's first song "Solitary Man" went to # 55 in early 1966. The same song went to # 21 in July of 1970. Also the song "Shilo" (original on Bang Records) & then Neil later recut the song (from "Velvet Gloves And Spit" on UNI Records) both in 1968.

"Twist And Shout" by The Beatles was a #2 hit in 1964 on Tollie Records, a subsidiary of Vee Jay Records. That same recording was reissued in 1986 by Capitol Records to capitalize on the song's inclusion in the film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". It reached #23 on the Billboard Hot 100.

"Cold Heart" isn't a reissue of "Sacrifice", as it features only some of that song. Also found in the recording are Dua Lipa singing the chorus of "Rocket Man", Elton's own "Kiss The Bride", a 1983 hit, and "Where's The Shoorah?", a 1976 album track.

They could continue finding songs of Elton's to rework for years. He's got a big catalog of great music that most people don't know, based simply on having put out 18 studio albums between 1969 and 1984 alone, not to mention the countless non-album singles and b-sides.
