90’s Tunes the Radio Doesn’t Play Anymore
Re: 90’s Tunes the Radio Doesn’t Play Anymore
Heard this rare song on WMOM tonight:
Celine Dion - Where Does My Heart Beat Now (Celine's first English hit, hit #4 in 1991)
Some other tunes not heard in a while (if ever):
Michael W. Smith - Place In This World (#6 in 1991)
Shai - If I Ever Fall in Love (#2 behind I Will Always Love You for two months in 1992-93)
Snow - Informer (#1 for seven weeks in 1993)
Boyz II Men ft. Mariah Carey - One Sweet Day (#1 for 16 weeks from around Thanksgiving 1995 all the way to the middle of Lent in 1996)
Most late 80s/early-to-mid 90s songs that aren't rock based seem to get little to no airplay today

That station claims to be a CHR/Alternative Hybrid.
Celine Dion is neither, as that song is 30 years old now (recorded in 89, album released in 90).
Are you sure? O.o

Re: 90’s Tunes the Radio Doesn’t Play Anymore
With the exception of a handful of songs, I would expand that all the way up through the very early 2000s - probably 1988-2001 - basically, the music I grew up on.
Will some of these songs re-appear in 20 years on the Oldies stations at the time, or are some of them permanently buried never to receive airplay again? And we're not just talking obscure songs that barely cracked the Top 40 - there's a lot of songs that made the Top 10 or higher that I haven't heard on terrestrial radio in well over a decade (except once in a great while I'll be surprised listening to BackTrax USA 90s version and hear a song I had forgotten about).

Yes! WMOM is an odd station, but it works as it's #1 in its immediate areastopnswop2 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 9:59 pmThat station claims to be a CHR/Alternative Hybrid.

Correct they do play that on occasion. I also have heard it on WDVD. But that's also rare
