"Go" is Go-ing away in the Twin Cities

Hey, some of us like to talk about happenings in other areas of the country, too. Here's the place to do it.

"Go" is Go-ing away in the Twin Cities

95.3 and 96.3 are being sold to EMF and are expected to add to the list of K-Love and Air1 drones. Those two networks are already heard on translators in the market fed by HD side channels of iHeart stations.

I visited the Twin Cities before the Plague struck and sampled both of the Go's. I was very underwhelmed by both, so this isn't surprising. Their ratings are absolute shit as well -- 95.3 and 96.3 have been stuck in the 1's for the last two ratings periods (seems those are the only books they subscribed to: https://radioinsight.com/ratings/minneapolis-st-paul/ ).

Also, I was really disappointed in Cities 97.1 -- it sounded no different than it did before the relaunch. So what the hell was the point of iHeart going through all of that effort?

The Current is pretty much the only listenable station there besides 104.1 Jack FM.

take this job and shove it

Yeah, Cities 97 has pretty much been a modern-leaning Hot AC for years. Nothing remarkable about that station. Very similar sound to 93.9 The River in Windsor prior to its demise.

Was in the Twin Cities back in 2015 or 16 to watch the Tigers play there. Listened to 96.3 then which was the Twins flagship and played AC music. It was way too strange listening them segwaying to baseball, as it seemed out of place...

KS95 sounded better than Cities 97, last time I heard them both. In fact, Cities reminded me of the CMH Hot AC "B97," just before the switch. Did not care for Go at all. Twin Cities radio was way better in the 80's. Started to fall when 99 1/2 WLOL went bye bye. Yeah, you got KDWB all the way in Mankato, Rochester and in west Wisconsin, but they got complacent with no competitors. Then KJJO 104 fell. Then the rest of the dominos fell. Twin Cities radio is rather dull now. No energy IMO.
