By now you've probably about the Rochester, New York weatherman who used the word "coon" in a reference to Martin Luther King Jr.:

It seems like he just had a slip of the tongue and accidentally combined King and Junior.
What's scary is the way different people have jumped on this like he was the Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan. It seems like they have a personal or political or professional need to grandstand on this issue.
Why would this guy use such a word, knowing it would probably destroy his career?
