I've turned SSL back on.

Here's what I've determined:
- If your image is from an "http://" (non-SSL) source, it will not work.

I believe I can amend my .htaccess file to permit both. Working on it.

I'm sure you can. My images are hosted on an "http://" (non-SSL) source and they have always worked before. They were OK again this morning, after whatever you did. But now I notice they're only showing up as an icon again.

I've still not figured out how the .htaccess file needs to be written. This is turning into a pain in the ass (you damn socialists! LOL).

I'll likely have to turn to the phpBB user forum to see if they can offer any suggestions.

I've submitted a help request to the phpBB support forum.

Hopefully they can come up with a solution!

When I changed from phpBB version 3.2.2 to 3.2.8, I suspect my .htaccess file got changed. This is why something that worked fine in 3.2.2 with SSL turned on is no longer working in 3.2.8.

So far, I'm being told phpBB (and our browsers) are behaving as intended by blocking image files hosted on non-SSL servers.

You can post all the beer pics you want so long as they are remotely hosted on a server that uses SSL (which can be discerned via usage of "https://" as opposed to "http://" in the image location URL).

I'm still searching for a solution that will permit non-https images to pass through.

I've been playing around with firewall and server settings.

Now, your first image is invisible again.

Update - now I can see your first image again! (Turning off "additional security headers" in my Firewall did the trick.)
