This week's nominee is a man from Edmonton.
Man dies in Edmonton mall parkade after standing up through car sunroof, police say

Edmonton. police say they are investigating the death of a man in a mall parkade after he stood up through the sunroof of a car and was struck by a beam.

Officers responded to the call Thursday at West Edmonton Mall.

They were told a sedan had been travelling through the mall parkade when the 18-year-old passenger stood up.

As the car passed underneath a ramp, the man was struck by a concrete beam.

Emergency workers treated the man at the scene and took him to hospital, but he died of his injuries.

The 17-year-old male driver and 15-year-old female passenger were unhurt.

Police say speed and impairment are not believed to be factors.

18 years old. That sucks.

It reminds of a kid I graduated with. Later that summer, him and some friends were out on a boat, and it was getting dark. Apparently they went under some kind of dock or bridge (it's been 20 years, so I don't remember all the details), and they didn't see it. Whacked his head on it and he wound up dying, too. This one was more of a freak accident, though. They weren't fucking around at all. Just wrong place, wrong time.

Sounds similar to this boating accident that killed two major league baseball players.

What is it with you and that anyways? It's almost like an involuntary OCD trigger whenever someone mentions baseball...

But you do it to anybody who mentions the thing… I don’t do that to you and hockey even though I’d rather yank my eyes out with tweezers than watch that boring ass sport… I don’t harass you about it though.

All this poster talks about is baseball and Ron Cameron (71.01% of posts). Maybe pick another martyr.

It's a pity the Darwin Award is only given posthumously. The lucky recipient doesn't get to bask in the glory or to appear as a guest on the talk shows.
