So, it’s been here all week, but I haven’t yet seen anyone entering or leaving. We have a road construction crew on our street. They’re going to be here all summer. But I don’t believe there are any female crew members.

Probably less that than a difference in language between US & CA.

Example:

If your car battery is dead in a public place, someone may see your predicament and offer you assistance. They may ask:

CA: "You need a boost?"
US: "You need a jump?"

The difference between jumper cables and booster cables doesn't exist in anything but linguistics.
