In TN and AL. This is just nuts in January. Even in the deep south.

I was a skeptic at one point but leaving politics out of it., I'm convinced it's real.

I can't believe we're still rolling along in construction. The ground is nowhere near frozen. I mean, I'm still dealing with MUD. In January. That's fucked up.

One extreme usually follows another.
Enjoy the one you like whilst it lasts.
BTW - heard robins bitching about it in the woods behind my place north of the 45th yesterday...

There is no doubt the climate is changing....it has been changing since the formation of the Earth.
It will continue to change; Michigan has been an ocean, and under thousands of feet of ice. Florida officials are just tonight taking action to protect manatees. They are being adversely affected by COLD ocean water. Wow.
Generally, it's agreed there have been 5 major warning events we know about. 2 of them killed off a large percentage of animal life. Hope this is not a 3rd.
There is no doubt that man's activity has contributed to this recent climate change.
All that said, the abject foolishness of thinking that outlawing natural gas stoves and ovens, or transferring your carbon output from your tailpipe of your car to the smokestack of the power plant will stop, or Heaven forbid, reverse the damage is amazing. It flies in the face of anyone with a technical train of thought. The experts all confirm climate change, but note that they speak only of helping the current acceleration by universal global actions. That's not happening.
India and China are building coal plants at a record rate. Any little action we take will help, but on a global scale, are infinitely small. It's not a good thing, but we need scientific, not magical thinking. We simply cannot be shutting down nuclear plants, shutting down coal plants, beginning to target natural gas plants, and speak of converting our entire home life and transportation lives to electricity without having a workable infrastructure in place.....
Next 7 days here in Wayne county:
30-34-38-42-47-44-45
Rain predicted Monday and Monday night, Tuesday, Wednesday night and Thursday… hello March.
Looks like I wasted my money coming to Florida. Temps here have been in the upper 60s to lower 70s all week. But this weekend it's forecast to plunge into the mid 50s with possible frost at night
I always think February is the worst month for winter and winter is not done with us yet. It's 31 right now where I am, so that's typical but back in the upper 40s next week. This almost leads me to believe that sooner or later, there could be a migration of people moving back to the northern states due to the heat being too much to deal with in the SW or deep south.

I'm in the deep south right now (Florida) Today's high temp was 62 deg. Tomorrow is to be 55 deg with frost possible tomorrow night,
The women who live here year-round love it. Gives them a chance to wear their winter fashions, coats, hats, scarfs, mitts, boots.
