Something I've never done before

Okay, kids. I am 36 hours away.

For the first time since I was 2, I will be flying on Thursday. I hate heights and have been scared shitless to fly, considering what I witnessed on 9/11. So now, at 37, we are going on our honeymoon. Flying down to Orlando, then taking a cruise to Bimini. The cruise part doesn't bother me, but I don't know how to grapple with getting on an airplane and be elevated to 30,000 feet.

If I don't make it, it was a pleasure, fellow buzzboarders.

Except Neckbeard. We never did have that sauna date. Asshole.

Flying is safer than a germ infested cruise ship. Trust the data, it's very safe. Bring headphones and listen to music or download a movie to your tablet or phone.

I've never been afraid of flying. I used to love flying. But now it's been 6urned into an ordeal. It starts as soon as you walk into the teminal and doesn't end until you leave the terminal at the other end

Good luck it will be over in a few hours.

I made it down to Orlando. Idk how. Once the plane took off, it wasn't that bad.

It's 9pm and I'm wearing shorts and sitting outside. Curse my ancestors for choosing Michigan.

Told ya you'd be fine. Planning the next trip that requires air travel yet?

Flying is great unless you have ear problems like I do. Honestly, it is such an underrated high to be up there. Just make sure you build up your immune system before you take off.

I guess my family has it in our blood. My cousin is a flight attendant, and my second cousin is a pilot.

Not yet, but the trip back to Michigan suddenly doesn't bother me as much!

Ya know, I could get used to this...

Shame on me. I completely forgot. Yuengling is my third favorite thing to enjoy while in Florida so I wasn't thinking.

I always thought Yuengling was a Pittsburgh beer?

Okay, I'll play......what are your 2 favorites?

Yuengling is the oldest Pennsylvania brewery just ahead of Straub which is fabulous. The brewery has a tap at the street.

Glad you made it alive.

It is indeed a Pennsylvania beer, but since purchasing the old Strohs brewery in Florida it is now brewed and available there also.

Number one on my list is the dog beach at Haulover Park were dogs are allowed to run free and play in the ocean. I love playing with mine and the other people's dogs too. As a bonus it's right next to the nude beach and if you have a well trained dog that will go where you tell them you have a reason to go over and bring the dog back. Number two, Ron DeSantis.

Boy, that fucking 36 degrees sure smacked me in the face this afternoon 😡

Anyway, the reason I created this thread was because I've always been scared shitless to fly. It seems a number of posters here have done it routinely. I was shitting blue cobblers when we were taking off from Detroit, but by the time we were over Georgia, I was looking out the window. The trip home was a cinch.

That said, in my 37 years of life, this was my first real vacation, and I loved every second of it. A flight, Florida, a cruise, the Bahamas and back....it felt great. I highly suggest it!
