Tropical Depression #9

Post by Turkeytop » Fri Sep 23, 2022 6:49 pm

It's churning around down in the Caribbean now. Not officially a hurricane yet, so it hasn't been named. That's expected to happen in the next day or two. It's projected to be a major hurricane slamming Florida's gulf coast on Wednesday.

If we had our vehicle here, we'd get to Hell out this weekend. Instead, we're going with plan B. We've booked a room at the Holiday Inn for Tues, Wed and Thurs. Once there is greater clarity as to the exact trajectory of the storm, we may be able to change or cancel our plans.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

Did you have an event or wedding or something there? Just curious why would you leave Ontario in the early fall which has to be beautiful, to go to Shitlorida during hurricane season?

We have a place here. We always come for a few weeks in the fall just to tidy it up for when we come back in the winter

Earlier model runs had it churning in the Gulf for 3 or 4 days before blasting into Louisiana. Now the forecast has sped it up and is taking it right into the middle of Florida.

Yikes. I'd better tell my wife to pack a few changes of underwear for me.

The media hysteria is already off the charts with this tropical system.

Storm has a name now "Ian." What kind of name is that for a hurricane? It's supposed to sound menacing, Ian sounds like a pansy. Should be something like Ivan, Izzy or even Icarus.

Even hurricane names are now "woke".

We should name expected-to-be-weak storms after crappy cars, like Hurricane Pinto, Yugo, or Edsel.

Was Edsel really a crappy car? I thought it was only a marketing failure.
