WEXFORD CO., Mich. (WNEM) - A 46-year-old Rapid City man is in protective custody after being seen dancing with a handgun on southbound US-131, according to the Michigan State Police Department.
On Tuesday, Wexford County Central Dispatch received several 911 calls about the man dancing naked with a gun around mile marker 187 in Wexford County.
MSP said the man manually emptied ammunition in front of witnesses who were on the line with dispatch.
He was sent to Munson Hospital Cadillac for a mental health evaluation.
The man possessed a valid Michigan CPL. According to MSP.

I have to chuckle at that last line - that he had a valid CPL....because how is this relevant? I mean, it was pretty much impossible for him to conceal his gun

I don't know what it takes to lose a CPL or the right to own a gun period but as far as I'm concerned that guy shouldn't be allowed to own a gun.
He is clearly unstable in my mind.

Reminds me of the time police came in my place of work with guns drawn, telling us to stand back while they hunted a 'newer' employee and to handcuff and drag out. One guy turned to the Human Rec. person and asked "how the background checks were going?"

Police caught up with the 55-year-old Traverse City man a few blocks south, near the Park Place Hotel, where he was arrested.

You beat me to it. There's a reason I posted it in this forum as opposed to Politics. This guy clearly violated multiple laws, and I'm sure he will be dealt with accordingly. Not much else to comment. And I can't comment on whether he should have been allowed to own a weapon in the first place as I don't know the results of his mental health evaluation, nor do I know if he exhibited such signs in the past.
