Reading Carl Hiaasen's novel Squeeze Me. For those unfamiliar with Hiaasen's work, his novels always satirize life in Florida. Satirizing Florida is a feat, when the real, unexaggerated Florida is so bizarre already. But Hiaasen does it masterfully.
The novel is set in Palm Beach in 2020, during the pandemic. President Mastodon is in the White House but spends most of his time at his southern White House and golf resort, Casa Bellicosa'
A wealthy socialite goes missing at party, the President immediately declares that she was abducted and murdered by illegal immigrants from the gang MS 13. The President mistakenly pronounces it "MSNBC."
Turns out, the lady was actually killed and eaten by a Burmese Python. The Florida establishment wants to keep that secret under wraps because of the bad publicity it would generate.
I'm not quite half through the book yet. It's a good read.

Is that the same author that has a recurring character with one eye that lives in the swap that used to Governor of Florida? He's a hoot.
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.
