Local level census results have been released

Post by Splouge » Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:25 am

Detroit has gone down to 639K from 713K in 2010. Duggan thinks the city was undercounted, I don't doubt it.

Dearborn has reached 109K (98K in 2010). Canton (90K in 2010) came close to reaching 100K, but only got to 98K, and Livonia (which had 96K in 2010) actually decreased to 95K. So Wayne County now has 2 cities with a population over 100K. Clinton Township in Macomb County reached 100K, making it the first township in MI to do so.

Surprisingly, Hamtramck increased from 22K to 28K, the highest growth rate of any Wayne County municipality. And after decades of decline, my city, Melvindale increased from 10,715 to 12,851 the 2nd highest rate in the county, and the highest rate in Downriver.

Melvindale has more than Southgate and Lincoln Park? That surprises me.

They/them, non-binary and proud.

Some of the census figures seem preposterous. Why are they releasing the gerrymandering data even before the raw numbers in each municipality?

Canton is a Township, not a city. A CDP is not a city.
