NICEVILLE, Fla. -- A Niceville woman is accused of sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl over a seven-month period in 2018.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office arrested 50-year-old Katrina Puri on Tuesday on the following charges:
lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim less than 12
lewd and lascivious exhibition on a victim less than 16
Deputies say a caretaker reported noticing redness on the child during bath time.
"The victim told the caretaker, and subsequently investigators, that Puri touched her inappropriately on a number of occasions," the sheriff's office says in a release. "Sometimes when she was clothed and sometimes when she was not."
According to an arrest report, the incidents happened between February 2018 and September 2018. Puri was 47-years-old at the time.
The arrest report states the allegations were received by the Florida Department of Children and Families on February 13, 2020. The victim identified Puri as "Tia, a mean girl," according to the report.
Puri denied all allegations while being interviewed by investigators on June 1, 2020.
She is being held in Okaloosa County Jail without bond.
Deputies have not specified Puri's relation to the girl.
