What is Your Favourite Tool, Machine or Other Device You Have?
What is Your Favourite Tool, Machine or Other Device You Have?
On a normal day I would probably choose one of my radios.
But today, the hands down winner was my snowblower. It snowed overnight last night. Not a lot. Three or four inches. But it fell as heavy, wet snow. By morning, the temperature had dropped and it was frozen into a hard icy mass. I was so glad I didn't have to spend a couple of hours chopping and shoveling that from the driveway. I would never want to be without a snowblower.

I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.
Re: What is Your Favourite Tool, Machine or Other Device You Have?
I used to have a LONG driveway and got a snowblower for my lawn tractor and used it a lot. When I moved back into a subdivision with a "normal" driveway, I avoided purchasing a snowblower because my logic was that the shoveling kept me in shape. That lasted for about 17 years. I got a little snowblower to help with the heavy stuff, but I still try and do it mostly by shoveling.
I did use it on the snow yesterday. We got about 4" here, but it wasn't the heavy wet snow that the weathercasters were talking about, but the snowblower made quick work of the driveway and sidewalks.
The favorite tool might be a SHOPSMITH. My dad bought it about 3 months before I was born, and now I'm the caretaker. I've used it for tons of stuff over the years.

Re: What is Your Favourite Tool, Machine or Other Device You Have?
When we lived up north around L Huron, it never stopped snowing in the winter. I would shovel feet of snow from the driveway every day. We were dirt poor back then, but somehow my wife saved up enough money to buy me a used snowblower for Christmas. How I loved her for that.
When we came to the city I brought it along, but soon realized it was overkill. It was like the Harley Davidson of snowblowers. While the neighbours were out running their little put put machines, mine was roaring and tossing snow about three lots over. When I wrecked my shoulder I had to get one with electric start and it was a more gentrified model.
What's a SHOPSMITH?
I googled it but I'm still puzzled.

Re: What is Your Favourite Tool, Machine or Other Device You Have?
It's kind of a do-it-all woodworking machine. The base unit is a table saw, but you can turn it into a drill press, a horizontal drill, a disc sander, a jointer, a bandsaw, a biscuit cutter/joiner, a lathe and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. It also has a completely variable speed control. One thing that's nice about it is that the table can tilt, instead of just the blade tiling on most table saws.
I don't have the bandaw or jointer attachments but I have stand-alone units for those functions.

Feel like making a few extra bucks in your spare time? The guy who used to make my nesting posing block sets passed away. I need about 4 sets.km1125 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 4:53 pmIt's kind of a do-it-all woodworking machine. C'mon Bryce. You must have a favourite camera or dog toy.

You wouldn't like my favorite tool tool. Because you started the thread and out of respect for you, I didn't post it.

I work hard to be the best where ever I go.
My favorite tool is my pair of glasses.

I'll give you that. Henceforth, you shall be, "King Of The Tools."
Sorry RT, you are only the Prince.

They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Nevertheless, you should still be a big supporter and proponent of manganese and it's struggle to be accepted as one of the regular metals.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 10:43 pmGreat, but I am not transgender.Bryce wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 10:39 pmNah, I think you're more of a Manganese. I'm not even sure what a "nesting posing block" is, but if you PM me some pictures and details, I'd consider it.Bryce wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:45 pmFeel like making a few extra bucks in your spare time?
