A Geometry Question

On a circular piece of work, how do I locate the exact centre?

Couldn't you run a tape measure from it's widest point, and wherever the halfway mark is, that would be the exact center?

DISCLAIMER: I got a C in Geometry. my worst grade in any class outside of penmanship and citizenship.

That's the method I was taught in high school...it seems to be preferred by most. I would prefer an equation, but that was never taught if I remember correctly...

The intersecting line method requires you connect EXACTLY at 3,6,9, and 12 o'clock. If you are off on any of the four, your center will be incorrect.

Get a circumference measurement and divide it by four. That number will be the distance between your points.

You could use compass and move the center around untill it lines up entire arc.
