The Old And The New-Reasons Why And Where Students Attended College

Post by TC Shuts Up » Fri Jun 12, 2020 10:00 am

In the age of coronavirus and perpetual protest and actual riots, how will college choice change?

The reasons for choosing and going to college listed at the link are not always the real ones. The real reason many young people have gone to residential colleges in the past was to "get away from home" and frankly, "to "date" up a storm" without parental supervision. A lot of those people went to MSU and CMU, where college has been traditionally more oriented toward social life. A lot of those same people end up later in life going to Walsh or other schools to get marketable skills.

I think parents now have to take the bull by the horns and steer them into colleges with a more serious purpose. Commuter colleges might be a serious alternative. Instead of students getting educated, a lot of residential colleges are now just getting students indoctrinated. Having a child at a commuter college and living at home allows the parent to assume more control over what they do and are being taught, and whether it conflicts with parental goals.

Disagreeing with Communists is NOT an impeachable offense.

So lemme get this straight ... people have gone to MSU not because they wanted the strong academics the school offers but because they wanted to party -- and get taught "marketable" skills somewhere else?
