Let's take baby steps with him. TT, is your phone touch tone or rotary? Is it cordless, or is that too middle class?

Touch tone on the kitchen wall.
What about the drive thru?
What about the drive thru?

Do the banks up there have drive-thru service? You could easily go through there and handle any transaction you need...

Surely you have seen the vacuum tube drive thru setup in Florida and elsewhere? They send you a tube and talk to you through a loudspeaker and then you send Whatever papers to them in the tube, they process your paperwork and send your cash or whatever back to you...

I have seen those in Florida and wondered what they were. I just thought they were some kind of primitive technology that predated ATMs

Drive thru banking, full service from your car and quite convenient.

We don't have that here. And if we did, they would probably restrict it to people with i phones.

Why would they restrict it at all?

With demand far exceeding the limited availability of the service they would want to find an arbitrary means for selecting who get to use it. They couldn't say "Whites only" or "Men only" or Baptists only." But they could say "people with i phones only"

They would just have a line that snakes out into the road...

Drove by the same bank today. Thankfully, I didn't have to go in. They appeared to be extra busy. I suppose it's due to the combination of it being month end and Thursday being pay day for most working class people.

The working class line was all the way out to the street and about 100 yards along the sidewalk, in the pouring rain. The
i phone client line up was about ten people. They were able to stand under the overhang of the roof.

Most people salaried or not regardless of class get paid on a Thursday or Friday which exact day or week Varies but class has nothing to do with that. some of the things you define by class are really beyond ordinary and not deserving of such definitions.

Cash is no longer king. Most businesses prefer payment by debit or credit card. Lately, there is something wrong with my debit card. It works OK at the ATM but when I try to use it to make a payment, it just says "card error" or "problem with card" or "please remove and reinsert card"

I called the bank and asked them to send me a new card. The woman advised me to just drop by my nearest branch and they would take care of me. I explained to her that I'm working class and I could only get access to the bank by waiting in line for several hours.

She told me just to download the ap to my smart phone and that would streamline the process for me. I told her my smart phone is on the kitchen wall and it doesn't do aps. She told me I would just have to line up then. She suggested I should go early in the day and it might not be so busy.

I told her I'll just start banking at another bank. >:
