Anyone traveling by commercial plane these days?
TRAVERSE CITY — Air travel at Cherry Capital Airport is down 95 percent since Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay at home order, officials said Friday.

Fewer than 50 passengers a day are now being processed through the regional airport, said Airport Director Kevin Klein.

I am going to be traveling in a private plane in early May, but I wouldn't be caught in a commercial plane maybe this year... I have several friends with Delta and AA and they are taking incredible risks. Airplanes do not UV Filter the cabins, but the air does circulate.

I’m very worried that the interstate and international travel by whichever mode (Air, Rail, Bus) takes a VERY long time to come back to full strength.

Get this...

I have a friend who is a "check ride" pilot with American Airlines. They still have to fly to China because of gate contracts. The crew fly's a empty plane and lands. They sleep on the plane and then fly back.

One of my friends is a Senior Flight Attendant for Delta and she has talked about being on ghosts flights to keep gate contracts and flights where there are 10 or less people on them...

It's absolutely absurd for any country to require airlines to fly these routes just to keep their gate positions or their routes. Why incur all that extra cost in fuel and airframe hours when you could just park the planes? You could still pay the staff and it would be a fraction of the overall cost.

At least if they're flying the routes they should be loading up with cargo. (masks and gloves??)

I've been on a deadhead flight (empty plane being transfered to a different airport) and it's pretty sweet. Every plane has cargo. They are probably running much more.
