I 75 Info Needed

Post by Turkeytop » Fri Dec 14, 2018 7:51 pm

We're heading back to Florida after Christmas. Is 75 still closed through Detroit?

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

Would I-69 to I-75 and quickly to US 23 work for you?

Can I infer from your answer that 75 is still closed. What I've done the last few trips is cross at the tunnel, 75 north to 94 and 94 west to 275. Then south on 275. I might just do that again.

I don't know for sure. Lots of construction going on in many cities. Replacing water lines in Flint has created an influx of money and a South Side mini boom. Ended up seeing that coming back to Bishop Airport. Tried to get on I-69 at Hammerberg Rd., and it was blocked off, and ended up seeing all the construction. Maybe Demolition DOES Mean Progress. Read parts of Ghastly Gary's book, and apparently they are emulating what Detroit has been doing. Lemons, Meet Lead Free Water and Sugar.

See Map on Page 6 of this link, and other pages for statewide construction.

On southbound I-75, there is about a two mile stretch (from the Ambassador Bridge to Springwells St) where only 1 lane of traffic is open.

I recommend avoiding that area from mid-afternoon to early evening.

Westbound I-94 is a disaster through Detroit during both morning & afternoon rush hour. Absolute bottleneck.

The good news is if you're traveling the week of Christmas, commuter traffic should be lighter than usual.

Lemonade sounds good. :)

If you're coming into the US through the tunnel, simply turn left onto westbound Jefferson, then right onto Griswold, Shelby or Washington Boulevard. These three will bring you three blocks north to Fort Street. Stay on Fort Street until Springwells, then right, then left onto the southbound I-75 onramp.

Southbound I-75 between Detroit and Downriver is finally back open again, though at Livernois it is still a mess thanks to preparation work for the second international bridge.

My furthest DTV tropo: KDKA Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 202 miles for three days in January 2017 and a night in September 2017 with only an Antennas Direct C2V!

Current setup: Antennas Direct C2Max (2018-present)
