Police blotter: Man arrested after officer finds coke in his pocket

Posted Dec. 11, 2015 at 4:00 AM

NICEVILLE — A young man was arrested after his grandmother told police he was trying to break into her house, and a police officer found cocaine in his pocket.

The incident occurred at a Niceville Avenue residence, according to a Niceville Police Department arrest report. A woman called 911 and said her grandson, 21-year-old Zachary Charles Laubsch of Niceville, was trying to get into her house.

An officer responded and found Laubsch sitting in a chair at his residence, which was next door.

When asked to show his hands, Laubsch allegedly pulled his hands out of his pockets, but then put his right hand back into his pocket. The officer drew his gun and ordered Laubsch to show his hands. He did, the officer put away his weapon, and searched him. He found a jew-eler’s bag with a white powder that tested positive for cocaine.

Laubsch was charged with cocaine possession and drug equipment possession. His court date is Jan. 5.

I guess Niceville isn't so nice to drug offenders... The kid deserves his coke back for false advertising...

That's the first time I've heard it referred to as "drug equipment". Makes it sound like the kid had a power drill and a backhoe.

NICEVILLE, FL (WTVY)

A Niceville man has been arrested in connection with a joint undercover cybersex sting operation initiated last October.

27-year old John Bryan Hood of 8 Corbin Court is charged with using a computer to solicit a minor and obscene communication to a minor via computer. Hood was taken into custody yesterday at his home.

During “Operation Wolf Hunter”, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office along with the North Florida Internet Crimes against Children Task Force conducted an undercover operation. Law enforcement personnel used online websites to make contact with individuals wanting to have sexual encounters with juveniles.

During the Operation, Hood made contact with two undercover investigators who identified themselves as juvenile females online. Hood, using a fake name, stated he wanted to have sex with them and sent them explicit pictures on different days.

Hood is a registered sex offender following an arrest by the Pensacola Police Department in January 27th, 2014 for traveling to meet a minor for sex.

Father, son arrested on child pornography charges

N
ICEVILLE — The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Niceville father and son with possession of child porn after finding images and videos on their electronic devices.

Investigators first arrested John Bryan Hood, 27, during an undercover operation that cracked down on individuals using online websites to try to set up sexual encounters with juveniles, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Hood, a registered sex offender from a 2014 arrest in Pensacola for traveling to meet a minor for sex, was arrested Feb. 24 on charges of using a computer to solicit a minor and to commit a lewd or lascivious exhibition, according to the Sheriff’s Office

A search warrant was issued at his home, located at 8 Corbin Court, and numerous electronic devices, including laptops, were seized, the release said.

A recently completed forensic examination turned up images of child porn on both Hood’s devices and of his father’s, 56-year-old John W. Hood, according to the new release.

Investigators said the father’s devices had nearly 55,000 images and videos of child porn and erotica.

John W. Hood was arrested at his home on Thursday and was charged for possession of child porn and also marijuana.

John Bryan Hood’s additional warrants were served on Wednesday at the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Isn't it nice when a father and son can share a hobby together? Bonding.

There sure isn't as much excitement, fawning, or adulation over our first orange president as there was over our first black one. Evidently, orange really isn't the new black.

That was how they celebrated Father's Day.

I expect the son may have himself been one of his father's victims in his early life.

Hope they got the poor guy a cup of coffee at the station. Looks like he was having a little trouble staying awake for the mugshot.

That, or he's been through the process so many times that it's just boring by now.
