Ontario has craft beers? And you drink them?

Looks like a resort town's version of Blue Moon...

Is it any good?

Ontario has craft beers..I wouldn't normally drink them, but this was part of a well meaning gift pack. No, it isn't good. I still have 5 more to get through.

Craft Beers represent a middle class appropriation of our working class drink. They can't accept beer on its own terms. They have to gussy it up and give it catchy names like Downhill, Green Fields or Clitoris.

Ha! Like drug and car makers, craft breweries are running out of unique names for their products. Unfortunately, their popularity has minimized (or eliminated) shelf space in many places where you used to be able to buy some great import beers...

While I've always enjoyed this thread (and most of the time - your wit), I'm sorry for your characterization of craft breweries as some sort of class warfare or competition, or intrusion on your long-held beliefs on the way things ought to be, though. Ownership of the beverage genre by the 'working class' is also a non-plural state of mind.

None of the pictures of the staffers I saw on the Collingwood Brewery web site making the Downhill Pale Ale in your pic appeared to be trying to stop anyone trying to deaden their tastebuds or cells higher in the head with Blatz, Busch Light, or PBR. Looked like just regular folk trying to make a living, taking pride in what they do, and perhaps maybe enjoying their job  ?

Regardless, to each his own. I raise a pint of Short's (Un)Official to you for creating & keeping this topic alive, and hope the other 5 gifts are easier on ya. :blink

This isn't class warfare. I'm not at war with anyone. They have their class an I have mine. One is no better or worse than the other. I can't understand them and they likely don't understand me. But I bear them no ill will.

What, to us in the working class, seems shallow and pretentious, might be profoundly self affirming to the middle class types
